Crisis Management Training Team
Northwell Health’s Crisis Management Training Team has an extensive history training and designing exercises for the health system and the surrounding community.
In October 2000, the Crisis Management team (then the Corporate Emergency Management Program) hosted their first educational conference titled Health Policy Implications of Weapons of Mass Destruction. This forward-thinking mentality has translated into over 20 years of proven leadership and health system resiliency. New York State recognized this achievement and designated Northwell Health (then North Shore- Long Island Jewish Health System) as one of first Regional Resource Centers (RRC), maintaining this designation until the program’s revision.
The Crisis Management training team is comprised of trained professionals from varying backgrounds who are recognized as subject matter experts in incident management, hazardous materials response, and healthcare emergency preparedness.
In 2022 alone, we have taught over 3,000 students from within the Northwell Health System, as well as, outside organizations including, but not limited to local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical service agencies, offices of emergency management, and the Red Cross.
Overall, we are committed to providing the surrounding community with a high-quality learning environment, training resources, and promoting collaboration with our training partners.
The Clinical Preparedness Team
The Clinical Preparedness Team strives to prepare the health system’s clinical providers with the skills, training, and response plans needed to maintain high levels of patient care and quality during events that could adversely affect the continuity of patient care or medical operations.
Since the team’s creation in 2015, we have been able to provide clinical oversight to provide guidance on clinical operations, respond to special pathogen and infectious disease outbreaks, and manage event medicine & mobile medical deployments for the surrounding community.
We maintain our four key values in our day-to-day operations, which include:
Caring: Promoting an environment of trust with our patients and staff that we will continue to provide safe and quality care during any event the health system may encounter
Excellence: Pursuing with passion the highest standard of quality and service in the delivery of patient care during any event the health system may face
