Crisis Management’s Commitment to Serve
The Crisis Management Team follows a four-phase operating model which includes Mitigation, Preparation, Response, and Recovery. We aim to focus on enterprise risk management, continuity of operations, disaster risk reduction, training integrations into our regular operations, and the adoption of new federal and state regulatory standards in our disaster management plans.
We work to protect our organization, team members, and community 24-7, 365 days a year.

The Crisis Management Incident Response Team (CMIRT)
The Crisis Management Incident Response Team (CMIRT) is a New York State recognized Type 3 Hazardous Material Team that has the capability to respond to system wide all hazard incidents. CMIRT provides 24/7 support and response for the Northwell Health system which includes 21 hospitals, 850+ ambulatory practices, numerous joint ventures, and employs over 80,000 team members.
The Crisis Management Training Team & MARO RTC
Our team is comprised of highly trained professionals with varying backgrounds who are recognized as subject matter experts in incident management, hazardous materials response, and healthcare emergency preparedness. Overall, we are committed to providing the surrounding community with training resources, a high-quality learning environment, and promoting collaboration with our training partners.
As of July 2022, the Crisis Management Team at Northwell Health has been recognized as the Metropolitan Area Office - Regional Training Center (MARO- RTC) for the Long Island and Lower Hudson Valley service area.
The Clinical Preparedness Team
The Clinical Preparedness Team, founded in 2015, strives to prepare the Health System’s clinical providers with the skills, training, and response plans needed to maintain high levels of patient care and quality during events that could adversely affect the continuity of patient care or medical operations.
The Mobile Medical Division
The Mobile Medical Division’s main mission is to promote the health and well-being of the local community. Using a fleet of mobile medical vehicles our team provides easily accessible, high-quality medical care for all ages.
