Eddie Reyes, RN

Manager

Eddie is a Registered Professional Nurse & Crisis Management Manager with the Northwell Health Crisis Management Team. He is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness and educational preparedness of the Crisis Management Incident Response Team (CMIRT). Eddie also provides instruction to our community partners through the MARO Regional Training Center (RTC). Additionally, he is a key member of the team responsible for ensuring the operations and education of the health system’s Specialized Treatment Unit (STU). During his time at Northwell, Eddie was an integral part of the New York Medical Team deployed during Hurricane Maria and the post-earthquake deployments in Puerto Rico.

Prior to joining Northwell, Eddie served 21 years as a Detective for the New York City Police Department Emergency Service Unit (ESU), as well as a Rescue/Hazmat Specialist with the Urban Search and Rescue group. Right after retiring from the NYC Police Department, Eddie worked for the Counter Terrorism Operation Support (CTOS-NNSA) federal consortium Homeland Security for 10 years as a Course Director and a Homeland Security instructor. He currently maintains his per-diem status with them. While at CTOS Eddie co-authored several WMD prevent mission initiative courses and taught first responders and first receivers’ classes of Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Eddie is a graduate from Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and he has attained his current Registered Professional Nurse license (NYS). He has attained the status of a New York State ICS instructor as well as a CHSP, CHFSP, CHEP. He is certified to teach the HERT, and FRAME for healthcare, a course from CDP, and the Advance Haz Mat Life Support class from the University of Arizona. He recently became a Federal Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS) with FEMA.
