Gene Tangney
Senior Vice President & Chief Business Continuity & Crisis Management Officer
Gene Tangney is senior vice president, chief business continuity & crisis management officer for Northwell Health. In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the continuity of business processes before, during and after a crisis, and managing disaster response and recovery efforts. He also leads response efforts to cybersecurity threats in partnership with John Bosco, Northwell’s chief information officer.
Most recently, Mr. Tangney served as senior vice president and chief administrative officer for Northwell Health. Previously, he held several roles of increasing leadership responsibility. He served as regional executive director of the health system's Central Region; as vice president and administrative chief of staff to President and CEO Michael J. Dowling, where he supported the development and execution of Northwell’s strategic objectives and acted as an external liaison to the public, private and government sectors, and as vice president of operations and administrative director for the Center for Emergency Medical Services.
Before joining Northwell, Mr. Tangney was employed by Catholic Medical Center’s Mary Immaculate Hospital, where he managed the prehospital care services division and several other support service departments within the medical center.
Mr. Tangney received a bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration from Long Island University and completed both The Results-Based Leadership Program and Cycle of Leadership Program at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
