The goal of this 8-hour course is to provide an overview of the causes of substance use disorder and common mental health illnesses. The course will also examine the intersection of substance use disorder and mental health as we know many individuals use various substances to self-medicate for a variety of reasons. Communications tools and resources EMS providers can utilize will be featured.

The course concludes with a discussion on the mental health and wellness of EMS providers, building communication skills and providing resources providers can share or use. We must take care of ourselves so we can continue to care for others.
